Rack ’em up in Mullum – Custom Bike Racks

“Mount Chincogan-inspired bike racks are now ready for cyclists to park their bikes in Mullumbimby. The idea was brought to fruition by the Mullum Chamber of Commerce, who engaged local artist and designer Suvira McDonald to come up with a unique design of Mounts Chincogan and Tincogan.

‘It was a chance to support both alternative transport into and around town as well as beautify the town,’ said chamber president Jenelle Stanford.

The bike racks were made to special order by Mullum blacksmith Thomas De Toni, of Legacy of the Antipodes [formerly MullumJoinery Wood & Metal] and installed by Byron Shire Council.

Manufacturing the bike racks for Mullumbimby’s community has been a great project to contribute to,’ said Thomas.

‘The previous bike racks were beyond repair and these well-made replacements will serve the community for many years to come. We hope it encourages more people to get active and use bicycles as their preferred mode of transport.’

Pictured is cyclist Laura Connor who was one of the first to enjoy the bike rack outside Santos. Three other bike racks are located at the Mullum Newsagency,  Post Office, and the IGA.”
